LG will demonstrate the world’s first mobile device with LTE support

Company LG Electronics announced that demonstrate at the Mobile World Congress GSMA first map data based on technology standards 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE).

This map data is independently developed by LG modem chip. It is the most important element in the creation of a competitive phone 4G technology LTE, which has the greatest chance to be recognized as a technological standard for the fourth-generation mobile phones. Developed by LG that the chip – an important step in creating a competitive phone standard 4G. Phones based on the LTE could theoretically maintain speed wireless downloads from the network to 100 Mbps and download speeds in the network to 50 Mbps when using two antennas.

During a company LG will demonstrate the universality of the map data LTE by connecting the three maps to three different devices. Among these devices: a laptop, and netbuk prototype mobile internet device (MID). Also, LG plans to demonstrate one of the first prototypes of a smartphone with a built-technology LTE. These four devices will be running various applications such as streaming HD-video, video conferencing, video on demand, and the browser view Web pages.

The chip, which will be presented by LG, is able to provide wireless download speeds up to 60 Mbps and download speeds up to 20 Mbps. There are currently represented on the market phones with HSDPA technology, the maximum download speed of 7.6 Mbps.

Phones and other mobile devices based on technology LTE can download multimedia and other information 10 times faster than current standard 3G. This means that mobile broadband service will be able to compete with traditional wired connections, or even his work faster.

Most of the leading mobile operators are the supporters of 4G technology based on LTE, as it represents the next phase of development of existing technology 3GPP. The use of 4G technology will allow operators providing services to WCDMA and CDMA, to upgrade their networks to LTE with a much lower cost compared with the creation of new networks based on different technologies.

According to market research company Strategy Analytics, sales of handsets supporting LTE doubled from 70 million copies in 2012 to 150 million copies in 2013.

In addition to using LTE technology in mobile phones, LG plans to introduce in the near future high-speed telecommunications services to NetBooks LTE and mobile Internet devices.

Skype and Nokia partner to integrate Skype into Nokia devices

Barcelona, Spain – Skype and Nokia today announced a partnership that will bring the world’s leading Internet communications experience to the Nokia range of mobile computers. Under the terms of the cooperation, Skype(TM) will be integrated into Nokia devices, starting with Nokia Nseries. The Nokia N97 flagship device will be the first to incorporate the Skype experience in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

The Skype experience will be part of the address book of the Nokia N97, enabling presence – seeing when Skype contacts are online – as well as instant messaging. Nokia N97 owners around the world will also be able to use 3G and WLAN to easily make and receive free Skype-to-Skype voice calls, in addition to low-cost Skype calls to landlines and mobile devices.

“Making Skype available everywhere through mobile devices is essential to fulfilling our vision of ‘enabling the world’s conversations’,” said Scott Durchslag, Skype’s Chief Operating Officer. “Collaborating closely with Nokia to preload and integrate our software onto their devices will benefit the many Nokia customers who already use Skype, as it makes Skype easily accessible and simple to use on the go. It will also bring Skype new users who love Nokia’s Symbian S60 experience.”

“With more than 400 million Skype users worldwide, the integration of Skype on Nokia Nseries mobile computers is a significant step in bringing converged Internet experiences from the desktop to the world’s most advanced mobile computer,” said Jose-Luis Martinez, Vice President, Nokia Nseries.

Ever-popular device now available optimized for North American market

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks and support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer a powerful sound.

“When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience and still works really well as a mobile phone, without sacrificing features,” said Ian Laing, Vice President, North America Sales, Nokia.  “The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on this and has clearly proven to be a device that consumers are clamoring for – selling more than one million worldwide since its introduction a few months ago.”

With a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Ovi Share, Flickr, or Facebook.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, a virtual computer-style QWERTY keyboard, a pen stylus — and for true music enthusiasts, you can even use a guitar pick.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available for approximately 399 USD before taxes and subsidies in the U.S. through Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago, nokiausa.com and independent retailers and e-tailers. For a limited time, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will also come with a 50 USD voucher for Amazon Video on Demand which allows you to download thousands of movies or TV titles as well as one month of free turn-by-turn voice guided navigation through Ovi Maps.
