The production cost of BlackBerry Storm is higher than of the iPhone 3G
The components and materials cost from which is collected the Smartphone RIM BlackBerry Storm are higher than that of the iPhone 3G, despite the fact that Apple has released the phone for a few months earlier. According to iSuppli, the cost of manufacturing a single instance of BlackBerry Storm is $ 203, while the device is sold for $ 200 (subject to grant the operator Verizon). For comparison, the cost of manufacturing iPhone 3G as of July last year was $ 174 – below retail prices in the U.S. ($ 199 when signing a two-year contract with AT & T).
